Welcome back to a short but busy half term.

I Trust you all had a peaceful Easter.

Areas to be covered this term:

Maths

Division, problem solving, Venn and Carroll diagrams, 3D shape, mental maths skills.

Literacy

'Short writing' skills (a short piece of writing which is well structured, using carefully chosen vocabulary to good effect). Comprehension skills; diary writing.

Science

Movement and growing - study of the purpose and parts of a skeleton; role of joints and muscles and how they work.

History - WW1

Reflecting on the century of the start of WW1 and the role of animals and women in the war. 

Art

Looking at WW1 posters. Also looking at the work of Kandinsky and creating work in his style.

PE

 Rounders and athletic skills

Assembly

 Reflecting on the role of the Saints in our lives, with a focus on St George.

The annual optional SATs are in week 4, (the same week as the national year 6 tests).

The Friday workshop packs would serve as good resources for revisiting areas covered in maths and Literacy over this academic year.
