Newsletter Update July 2011

Dear Parents/ Carers

The end of term is next week so I would like to update parents on events to the end of term and the start of next term. Each child should have brought home a report last week. If you have any concerns following this please make an appointment to see the class teacher.
Dates
20 July Curriculum governors meeting 5pm in school
21 July SEN review meetings in school(Individual appointments will be sent)
22 July Site meeting 2pm
26 July Leavers’ Mass at 9.15am in Church for whole school
26 July School closes at 1.30pm
1 September School reopens at 8.55am for all children

The children spent one session in their new classes on Tuesday morning. If you feel any concerns about your child’s class placement please come in to see me about it. The staff list for September is
Foundation Mrs Townson, Mrs Skeldon, Mrs Scally
Year 1 Mrs Farmer
Year 2 Mrs Howarth
Class 3 Mrs Poulton
Class 4 Mrs Gross (0.6) Miss Soliman (0.4)
Class 5 Mr Curtis
Each class will also have teaching assistant support for some of the week to help each child make good progress during lessons.
Miss Conlon is leaving the school in July to take up a new post in Manchester. We wish her every success in her new school and thank her for all her hard work with the children here. A new teacher , Miss Soliman, has been appointed to job share with Mrs Gross in Class 4. We welcome her to the school and look forward to a happy and productive time with her.

The building work will be continuing over the summer holiday but will not sadly be finished in time for September. The hall will be unavailable for assembly and PE so we have to hope for good weather so that the children can enjoy some time outside. Arrangements will be made to safeguard school dinners. Can I please remind all parents who may be eligible for free school meals to apply/renew their forms. Part of school budget is now based on this and it would help the school financially if all those eligible applied whether or not they take the meal.
The final filmclub is on July 19th and finishes at 5pm.

On behalf of all the staff I wish you all a very happy summertime and hope the weather is good to us all. Please remember to label all new items of clothing for September. See you on September 1st. Best wishes, Sheila Partington
