FUNDAY
The HSA are holding a FUNDAY on Friday July 11th from 1.45pm onwards. There will be various stalls and fun things for the children to join in with. However any donations of goods for the Funday for any of the stalls would be very much appreciated. If you have any items to donate please send them into school as soon as possible. You are welcome to attend the Funday with your child but if not they will be supervised by staff within the school grounds.
WEAR A BRACELET DAY
There is a fund raising movement in Mossley at the moment to raise money to buy defibrillator machines with the possibility of placing them in schools so that they can be readily available in cases of emergency. The school is supporting this event by having a WEAR ALL YOUR BRACELETS DAY on Thursday July 24th. The suggested donation is £1 for the defibrillator fund. If you would like your child to join in please send in the £1 that day and they are welcome to wear all their bracelets.
MASS
On 25th July at 10.00 am we say goodbye to all 2014 leavers. Mr Curtis, Mrs Farmer and 21 children will be moving on from St. Joseph’s and this Mass will be a chance to thank them and celebrate all their achievements during their time at St. Joseph’s. You are very welcome to join the school at Mass on that day.
ROSARY GARDEN PARTY
On July 24th Mrs Farmer is inviting everyone to the Rosary garden for prayers with drinks and biscuits. This is a lovely tribute to Mrs Farmer who developed the garden with a group of parents and children. Hopefully it will be a lovely day to celebrate with her.
EARLY FINISH FRIDAY 25th JULY
The Governors have decided that the children will finish at 1.15pm on the last day of term. This is because some building work is beginning in school on the first day of the holidays. The work involves taking up the whole of the corridor floor, digging it out, rebuilding it with stone and a concrete raft and then relaying a wooden floor. The expected time span is 5 weeks and consequently the staff need to spend Friday afternoon covering all resources in the school to try and prevent dirt and dust getting into everything. Many apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.
INCREASE IN SCHOOL MEALS CHARGE
As from 1st September 2014 school meals prices will increase from £ 2.00 per day to £ 2.05.
DOGS ON SCHOOL GROUNDS
Following recent incidents please do not bring your dog onto the school playground or tie it to the school railings. This is not fair to the children or the dog. Also please ensure that your children are cautious and aware of the danger of dogs.
FINALLY
Reports will be sent home on July 17th. If you need to speak to the teacher following this please phone to make an appointment. KS2 children will be allocated tickets for the end of year show and these will be sent home nearer the date. If it rains on sports day we will try to reschedule the event but it will be dependent upon the weather.
I look forward to seeing you all over the next few weeks at the many school events taking place.
Yours sincerely,
Sheila Partington
