Funding information

The PE and Sport Premium provides ring-fenced money to primary schools to improve the quality of the PE and sport activities they offer their pupils.

For the academic year 2016 - 2017, St. Joseph’s RC Primary will receive a total of £8000 to improve the quality of PE and School Sport.

The spending for the year is as follows:

A qualified PE teacher to teach all classes for one hour on Monday. Cost £6500. Children receive high-quality experience of PE lessons.  They are keen to develop their skills and learn about the effect of diet and exercise on their body.  The children are engaged in a variety of PE activities and sports which helps them to develop a wide range of skills. The skills are linked to after school games competitions giving children more confidence.

A qualified Dance Teacher teaches on Tuesday afternoons.  Cost £1500.  The children have the opportunity to learn various styles of dance and explore shape, space and rhythm through music.  Some children then have extra lessons outside school hours with the same teacher.

Year 3 children will go swimming in the Summer term.  Cost £1000.  The children will have the experience of learning water skills at an early age which will lead to an increase in their own water safety and interest in swimming after school hours.
